Georgia - The Birthplace of Wine

Everyone who has been in Georgia, agree with me that today the most recognizable and easily translated Georgian word is “wine” (except for “gamarjoba (hello), genatsvale” (to express good attitude with someone), of course, which not everyone can pronounce)).
It is consonant with English wine, Italian vino, French le vin, Spanish vin, and even Afrikaans, it is written wyn, and the Welsh speak almost like Georgians - gvin.
It has been scientifically proven and it has long been known that Georgia is the birthplace of wine, and viticulture has 8.2 thousand years of history. Those who have visited Georgia are also aware of the fact that in many families wine is made in the same ancient (actually prehistoric) way as 8 thousand years ago - in “Kvevri”. This is when the crushed mechanical devices (initially they were bare feet)) grapes with sprigs, oilcake and stones poured into a clay jug "Kvevri", buried in the ground, sealed and left for several months until the wine is fully fermented. In 2013, UNESCO granted the status of intangible cultural heritage to the Georgian traditional winemaking method.

No, no wonder the vine has a long history of existence and a huge number of species. Regardless of the locality where it grew, people always took care of the vine - after all, only in Georgia today there are more than 500 autochthonous grape varieties. And the first thing for which young vines are cherished for several years before the first harvest is grape juice.
