About
"The must-have for summer 2013, this bright and trendy blush puts the spotlight on cheeks.
Its unique, creamy and non-greasy texture can be endlessly adjusted, bringing a seamless flush of colour to the skin without altering make-up. Easy to apply and wear, these delectable shades highlight fresh, plump cheeks and create an instant healthy glow."
Packaging
The Diorblush Cheek Cremes come in weighty glass pots with a screw top lid.
You just have to be careful not to drop these, obviously because it's glass packaging and also the cream product itself can come right out (I haven't experienced this yet luckily, but I have seen it happen to a tester at the counter - not sure if this is just the fault of the tester or not).
Overall, the weight gives a luxurious feel to it, but I do prefer the convenience of a lightweight compact that the Chanel cream blush comes in, which also has a mirror and the lid is attached!
Colours
Bikini (871) is a cerise (vivid, reddish pink).
Pareo (971) is a bright, medium, blue-based (hot) pink.
Comparison Swatches
Below are swatches of both Pareo and Bikini along with swatches of two of Chanel's cream blushes in Revelation and Fantastic. I'm relieved to find they are all different from one another. :)
Below: the cream blushes blended out.
Texture & Application
The texture is quite interesting. I don't have the Maybelline Bouncy Blush, but I imagine it's something similar to that. It's more solid than a mousse - it's more like putty. :D Anyway, it applies and blends easily enough - although not quite as easily and smoothly as the Chanel cream blush. The latter definitely feels like it has more silicone in it such that it really applies smoothly, evenly and effortlessly. I find it best to use the warmth of my clean fingers to apply and blend on my cheeks.
Scent
There's a slight, sweet, citrus-like scent, but you'd have to stick your nose in the pot to smell much of it. ;) This shouldn't really bother sensitive noses that much if at all.
Longevity
The Diorblush Cheek Cremes lasted from morning to mid afternoon on me (I have combination skin, but mostly dry skin this winter). So, definitely last a lot longer than other cream blushes I have with the exception of Chanel's cream blush, which lasted through to the evening!
RRP & Size
US$30 for 7g / 0.24 oz of product. This is significantly much better value for money when compared to the Chanel cream blush which is US$38 for 2.5 g / 0.09 oz.
Availability
Limited edition as part of the Dior Summer Mix 2013 Cheek and Nail Collection. So, there's also a matching nail polish shade available in the collection. Note, this collection has been out for a while and the autumn/fall collection is already out, so I would definitely rush out to check these cream blushes out before they're gone! >_<
Verdict
Love the strong pigment, easy-to-blend texture and non-greasy finish. Most of all, I love the micro-shimmers it has that give a brightening, healthy glow to the cheeks. I actually prefer the glowing finish to these blushes than the more matte finish that the new Chanel cream blushes give. The Dior blushes give life, added dimension and youthfulness o the cheeks, especially if you have dull or sallow olive skin like I do. ^_^
Hope this was helpful.
Thanks for stopping by! ^_^ xo
