Award winning "Back to Black" artist Amy Winehouse was found dead in her London apartment, police reported. The Metropolitan police said: "Police were called by London Ambulance Service to an address in Camden Square shortly before 16.05hrs following reports of a woman found deceased. On arrival, officers found the body of a 27-year-old female who was pronounced dead at the scene." The artist was last seen with her goddaughter Dionne Bromfield earlier last week when the teenager performed at the iTunes festival. The police has cited her death as unexplained. Winehouse's 2003 debut album, Frank, was critically successful in the UK and was nominated for the Mercury Prize. Her 2006 follow-up album, Back to Black, led to six Grammy Award nominations and five wins, tying the record for the most wins by a female artist in a single night, and made Winehouse the first British singer to win five Grammys. The singer's problems with drug and alcohol abuse, as well as self-destructive behaviour, were regular tabloid news from 2007 until her death.
