October 2019 - Monthly Empties!

Time to look at my beauty empties:

October 2019 - Monthly Empties!
Some products may have been received as PR samples - this post contains affiliate links

Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzer in Medium/Deep ~ travel size shown here ($40.00 CAN full size). A long-wearing, rich, matte bronzer infused with 100 percent real cocoa powder.

I know you've this bronzer a lot over the months because it was in my Summer Project Pan and I got so much use out of it that it was almost finished by the time I was done the project! And, I managed to finish this off a few weeks later - even though this is a mini, it still is awesome to have finished it!
Repurchased: Not until I'm done my other bronzers (But, this was a good formula!)

Urban Decay All Nighter Long-Lasting Makeup Setting Spray ~ $42.00 CAN. A weightless setting spray that keeps makeup looking just-applied for up to 16 hours.

This is a really solid setting spray that keeps everything in place and makeup looking great for the long haul! It is one of my favourite setting sprays and it just sets everything really well - was great in the Summer and I like this little mini for travel and knew this formula would be good through anything!
Repurchase: Yes

Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Skin Booster ~ sample shown (full size is $54.00 CAN). A hydrating face serum that delivers a plumped look, preps skin for makeup, and hydrates to smooth the appearance of fine lines.

I got a sample of this forever ago when looking for primer samples - I didn't really like this a primer personally, it was quite thin and just didn't think it worked as a primer. It was a fine serum, just not for the purpose I was using it!
Repurchase: No

Marc Jacobs Beauty Highliner Gel Eye Crayon Eyeliner in Black ~ deluxe size shown (full size is $33.00 CAN). A gel pot eyeliner in a crayon that delivers intense color and 12-hour waterproof wear and amazing glide in shimmer and matte finishes.

I really liked this formula when I reached for it - I tend not to use pencil style liners over liquids just based on preference. You can see it on here and I liked that it was a gel texture; but, this just dried up on me as it's a few years old at this point.
Repurchase: Not likely

Arbonne Makeup Primer ~ samples shown (full size is $54.00 CAN). Every artist needs to prep their canvas. This luxurious makeup primer glides on to visually diminish the appearance of fine lines and pores, creating a smooth surface.

I actually used a full size of this primer up in 2015 and it lasted for 2 years, which is great as it's a pretty pricey primer. I think it's a little slippy of a feeling for me on the skin - not my favourite formula, but, it worked. This little sample didn't have as many uses as it looked like it would either.

Repurchase: No

Clarins Instant Poreless ~ sample shown (full size is $32.00 CAN). Selfies never looked so good.

This is described as a pore-blurring, mattifying primer and I wasn't a big fan - I found it a little thick and hard to settle in and it seemed to take more than I like to cover my face. It smelled nice and worked okay once it was on.
Repurchase: No

Vichy Mineral 89 Fortifying Daily Skin Booster ~ $39.95 CAN. Give your skin a daily boost of strength.

This is AMAZING! I'm already on my 4 or 5th full size - I feel like my skincare isn't complete if I'm not using this as my morning serum! You can see my thoughts here and it's been a holy grail since it made my 2017 Yearly Skincare Favorites! This has just done wonders for my skin - I think it has totally improved my skin's strength, hydration, and appearance. It is just amazing.
Repurchase: Yes, always!

Vivier Sunscreen Lotion SPF 30 ~ $64.00 CAN. Optimal for all skin types including oily or acne-prone skin this medical grade water-based facial sunscreen provides true broad-spectrum UVA/UVB/UVC and SPF 30 protection in a light, sheer formulation that absorbs quickly into the skin.

I was sent a few products and this SPF lotion was one of them - it was fine, a thin daily use formula; but, I couldn't get a really good sense of it as it expired this month, so that's a little disappointing. The formula is thin and it worked, but it was just okay for me - I have a few formulas I prefer more!
Repurchase: Nah...

Garnier Skinactive Micellar Water ~ $11.49 CAN. Micellar Cleansing Water Dissolves Makeup, Even Waterproof Mascara, Cleanses Skin, Eyes And Lips Without Rubbing Or Rinsing.

This was a fine micellar water - it worked pretty well; but, I found it didn't get off everything and after using the Bioderma micellar water, most just aren't as good as that one. So, this is good for a more affordable option, but it just didn't work as well for me.

Repurchase: Maybe

Aromatherapy Associates De-Stress Muscle Bath & Shower Oil ~ deluxe size (full size is RRP: £47.00). Treat tired, aching muscles with this warming blend of Rosemary, Black Pepper, Lavender and Ginger essential oils.

This came in last year's LookFantastic Advent Calendar and I did like it in the bath - it is very strongly scented with rosemary being the strongest and my husband hated the smell even hours after I had a bath, it would linger around. It's quite expensive, but you only need a little in the bath.
Repurchase: I would consider it if I can find it easier by me

DUFT & DOFT Nourishing Hand Cream Stockholm Rose ~ sample size shown (full size is $9.52 CAN). Packed with moisturizing ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, collagen, shea butter and Vitamin E acetate, the DUFT & DOFT Nourishing Hand Cream instantly softens hands with a long-lasting and atmospheric aroma.

This was a little hand cream I got in a subscription box and it was fine but the scent is so strong, it's really hard to wear.
Repurchase: Nope

Yes To Cucumber Facial Wipes ~ $9.99 CAN for 30 wipes. Packed with green superfoods these all-natural, biodegradable wipes naturally refresh and rejuvenate all-in-one.

I'm not too picky about the wipes that I use because I don't generally use these to clean my whole face (unless I'm travelling or on vacation) - they are generally for swatches and when I'm getting ready in the morning. I did use these for both and they worked well. They removed most makeup (sometimes not a really difficult mascara, but otherwise they were good!)
Repurchase: Likely

October 2019 - Monthly Empties!

Got2B Fresh It Up Clean & Refresh Dry Shampoo ~ $8.99 CAN. Quickly clean and refresh while giving your hair a clean and crisp fragrance that lasts all day long.

This was a pretty meh formula for me - it didn't work as well as I wanted it to. It left a bit of a white cast and felt like it didn't fully get rid of my oil. I did finish it so it wasn't as bad as some I've tried recently.
Repurchase: No

Cake Beauty The 'Do Gooder To Go Volumizing Dry Shampoo ~ $4.99 CAN for a travel size. By adding natural oil-absorbing ingredients and leaving zero white residue, this dry shampoo transforms humdrum second-day hair into bombshell hair, without the harsh chemicals.

My feelings on this one are similar to the Got2Be - this worked better at removing my oils and improving the look of my hair but did come with a white cast. It did smell pretty good though and I like the option of a travel size.
Repurchase: Mmmm... maybe

Bath and Body Works Exfoliating Hand Soap - Toasted Vanilla Chai ~ $6.50 US.

These are always on sale, so never actually pay full price for them. The exfoliating soaps are fine but I prefer creamy or foaming soaps (and it doesn't look like this formula is available anymore).
Repurchase: No

Joe Fresh Cotton Pads ~ $2.00 CAN.

I always say that these are just good; but, once you use a really crappy cotton pad, you realize that these ones are actually really good! These ones work well for my face and nails, although I'm trying to go to reusable ones now for my face.

Repurchase: Yes

October 2019 - Monthly Empties!

Banana Boat Drybalance Instantly Dry Protection Sunscreen Lotion ~ $9.47 CAN. Powerful protection that draws away excess moisture, leaves a soft matte finish, and lets skin breathe – so your skin feels fresh, dry and comfortable.

This one expired, but we did use this a lot of the Summer for the whole family and enjoyed it.
Repurchase: Yes, likely

Marvis Toothpaste in Ginger Mint ~ $32.60 CAN for 7 mini toothpastes in a flavour collection.

I love Marvis toothpaste - the Aquatic mint flavour easily made my monthly favorites in April and I bought this flavour set to try the other types! I personally didn't love ginger mint as much, even though the ginger flavour wasn't too strong!
Repurchase: Yes, but not this particular flavour

Colgate Kids Anticavity Fluoride Toothpaste ~ $1.48 CAN. Colgate Fluoride toothpaste for Kids contains an enamel safe formula proven to fight cavities. This formulation, specially designed for kids ages 2 and up, also strengthens and protects developing teeth.

This was a good toothpaste for Elliott - he clearly enjoyed it since he probably ate half this tube.
Repurchase: Already have

Bausch + Lomb Sensitive Eyes Multi-purpose Solution ~ $10.99 CAN. Sensitive eyes multi-purpose solution cleans, rinses and disinfects soft contact lenses. contact lens solution for your sensitive eyes.

I've switched to a peroxide based contact solution now, but this is always handy to have just for a quick rinse if needed (since you'll only make that mistake once with a peroxide based solution!)
Repurchase: Most likely

Acuvue Oasys x 2 ~ $57.00 each for a 12 pack.

These are my go-to contacts - my eyes are usually pretty dry and these work well to keep them hydrated during the day!
Repurchase: Yep!

October 2019 - Monthly Empties!

Makeup Remover Wipe x 4 ~ $?

These were samples from the hotel when we were in California - they were okay, nothing great and didn't remove all my eye makeup; but, they did help a little.
Repurchase: Nope

Sephora Collection Cleansing Cream - Rose ~ sample (full size not available). Moisturizing and brightening.

This line has been discontinued and Sephora Collection rebranded their skincare line. This wasn't my favorite face wash; but, it was fine - it washed my face, just nothing outstanding.
Repurchase: No

Glamglow TropicalCleanse Daily Exfoliating Cleanser ~ sample shown (full size is $45.00 CAN). A super-fruit-powered, exfoliating cleanser to gently polish the skin and remove impurities for a renewed glow and instant radiance.

I thought this smelled really nice and it was a nice cleanser - I enjoyed using the sample. I personally don't use a physical exfoliant very often anymore, so this doesn't appeal to me in a full size.
Repurchase: No

Vichy Mineral 89 Fortifying Daily Skin Booster x2 ~ samples shown (full size is $39.95 CAN). Give your skin a daily boost of strength.

I don't need to say too much since I just talked about the full size product earlier in the post - I love these and I loved taking these little samples travelling with me!
Repurchase: Yes!

Lise Watier HydraForce Hydra-Protective Comforting Creme ~ sample shown (full size is $47.00 CAN). Results: Fortified and protected, the skin is soft, smooth and radiant.

This is a really nice moisturizer - it's a little rich for my skin, and there is a creme-gel formula in this collection that is much better for my combination skin. This formula is for normal to dry and I used it is a night cream and it worked really nice!
Repurchase: No, but I would consider the lighter formula

Dove Dry Oil Moisture Nourishing Body Wash ~ $7.96 CAN. A special blend of precious Moroccan Argan Oil beads with our gentlest cleansers and NutriumMoisture technology, it gently cleanses while helping to restore the protective surface of your skin.

This was fine - it worked well and did leave my skin nourished. I didn't really love the scent - it was quite strong and shea-y, which isn't my favourite.
Repurchase: No

Kiehl's Gentle Hair & Body Wash ~ sample size (full size is $21.00 CAN). Moisture-rich wash for babies and children.

This was a good little sample to bring along on vacation - it worked well. (It's just a little expensive for a kid's body wash in my opinion!)
Repurchase: Not likely...

Grand Legacy At The Park Blood Orange Shampoo, Conditioner, and Body Lotion ~ $?

These were fine hotel samples - I actually really like the blood orange scent and the lotion was amazing smelling. I prefer when hotels have branded products, but these did work well enough for vacation!
Repurchase: No

October 2019 - Monthly Empties!

Island Potato Soap - Anne of Green Gables Gilbert's Coffee Soap ~ $6.50 CAN. Gilbert’s Coffee Soap is an incredible deodorizer. It is also said that caffeine helps to fight free radicals and sooth inflammation.

I picked this up last year when we were in Prince Edward Island for a friend's wedding - it's made with potato juice from PEI potatoes and has coffee for soothing the skin. This had a stronger smell in the beginning, but I did like it and it did the trick!
Repurchase: Maybe, I do love handmade soaps!

Lush Pink Bath Bomb ~ $8.95 CAN. Luxuriate among lustrous swirls of silver in vivid pink waters, and let the sweet scent of vanilla and tonka absolutes cozy up to your senses.

This is a really yummy sweet smelling bath bomb - it's reminiscent of Snow Fairy, but not quite so it's sweet and fresh! I loved this one and it lasted a long time!
Repurchase: Yes

So, this month I used up 39 products! Woo hoo - of course, that was a lot of samples as I was travelling this month! It always feels good to use up any products!
