Tokio Hotel's "Love Who Loves You Back" - Single Review

After five long years of waiting, fans of German punk-rock band Tokio Hotel seemed to have given up all hope for an album of new material from the "World Behind My Wall" crooners. However, in the recent weeks, promotion for their fifth studio album, Kings of Suburbia, has taken shape. It has all led to the release of the project's official lead single, the sultry "Love Who Loves You Back", a vast departure from the band's previous efforts.

"Love Who Loves You Back", and its accompanying music video, could immediately cause confusion among Tokio Hotel's die-hard fan base. Instead of the heavy rock-influenced beats and guitars found on their singles such as "Automatic" and "Monsoon", the group goes for a more underground, 80s electro-rock approach with their new release, and it definitely works in their favor.

Sporting a more mature look (platinum blonde hair included) and incorporating an intriguing seductive vocal performance, Tokio Hotel is keeping listeners on their toes with the catchy new single. "Go throw your arrows, hit them hard, if they don't react, love who loves you back," lead singer Bill Kaulitz belts on the slinky chorus.

To support "Love Who Loves You Back", the boys of Tokio Hotel have taken their sexual adventures and escapades underground with a dark video which showcases a hot and heavy orgy of some kind. With men and women vying for Kaulitz' touch and attention, the visual gets pretty steaming, especially one particular scene in an elevator. It's nice to see the group grow up, showing the world the men they have become.

Kings of Suburbia is a welcomed release from a band with a devoted following. "Love Who Loves You Back" represents somewhat of a reinvention for Tokio Hotel, giving listeners the perfect taste of what is still to come.
